Is A Hockey Goalie;s Save Percentage And Goals Against Average Tell You Everything?
I dont think so. A gialie may have a great save percentage like .950, and a goals against average of 2.00. But does that tell you everything?
I dont think so. I go back to when i was a kid in the 70s and i would think if a baseball pitcher had a 8-13 record they were a horrible pitcher.
No again. Yeah, they might lose more than they win, but the relievers might not do what they need and end up making you lose the game. Or maybe depeite your losing record you strike out a lot of batters, have batters ground out a lot.
But maybe you end up with a lot of home runs off you. I realize its not the same thing as a gioalie, but going back to hockey goalies. Okay, you might have a horrible goals against average and save percentage--but you may have a great ability to stop certaain types of shots and keep rebounds to a minimum.
But maybe you are garbage at wrist shots or snapshots.
But maybe you are good at reading the play and see how it will progress,a nd keep your defense from screening you. As well you might be great at puck handling which a lot of goalies need to work on.
So i personally would test that goalie out that has a horrible GAA and Save percentage.
They may be a diamond in the rough goalie wise.
