How Are Hockey Goalies Analyzed?

I am planning on taking a sports data analytics course, but not sure if I want to analyze hockey goalies or baseball relief pitchers.

i want to go through Sports Management Worldwide which are experts in sports management type jobs for data analytics, being a scout or a general manager.

Okay, when it comes to hockey goalies, what is the most important data?

Is it their GAA or goals against average?

here is the thing with that. You may have a GAA of 882 and another goalie may have a 920 GAA.

But the goalie with the 882 GAA may be better in certain situations like giving up very few rebounds, or be better at stopping certain types of shots, or being able to read plays better than another goalie.

Or that goalie with an 882 GAA is better at stopping plays where it is a two on one situation, or better at stopping shots in a shoot out, or being able once again read a play better and alert their defense to how the play is going proceed.

i would rather use that goalie with the 882 GAA.

How about you?
